Hobbytime Review
M101A1 (Previously called M2a1) is a artillery weapon developed and used by the United States. In the Second World War, the standard USA was a lightweight howling of the US, and he received action during both European and Pacific theaters and during the Korean War. In 1941, he entered into production and gained fame for accuracy and a strong punch in a short time. M101A1 has a range of 105 mm high explosives (HE) semi -fixed ammunition fever and 12,330 yard (11.270 m), which makes it appropriate to support infantry.
All these qualities of the weapon have led to the adoption of many countries after the war with its widespread production. The type of ammunition was also standard in later models of many foreign countries.
After the First World War, the US Army ammunition department examined various Germans seized 105 mm calibrated howitzers and developed 105 mm howitzer M1920 over the Carryage M1920. A box of track design (M1925E car) and two other trace designs (T1 and T2) were also developed, but the original discrete track design was found superior after the test. After selection, the track was standardized as 105 mm howitzer M1 in the M1 wagon in December 1927. The Army intends to change all of the 75 mm ball howitzers. In the non -division and non -division artillery regiments with 105 mm pieces, he stopped the idea of lack of allowances and eventually forced to abandon in 1929; A limited plan developed in 1925 foresees the re -equipping the three processions, but only 14 m1 howitzers were produced in 1933,
A modified version of the M1 was tried in 1932 using semi -fixed ammunition instead of separate loading ammunition. Since this development requires a different wedge block, the new part was called 105 mm howitzer M2 in the M1 wagon. In 1939, 48 pieces were produced. The original M1 wagon was designed to withdraw horses instead of a truck, and a new wagon, T5 (m2), was developed in 1939 and standardized in February 1940. The Kama ring of the M2 howitzer was replaced in March 1940 before large -scale production started and the M2 Wagon M2A1 was created in the M2 wagon.
It was heavy for the weapon caliber, but the reason was that the gun was durable. Thus, the barrel and the car can see great use and remain functional without wear.
The US military artillery appointment system was modified in 1962 and the M2a1 howitzer was redesigned as M101A1. Weapons, Korean and Vietnam wars continued to serve. A similar model, the M102 howitzer, has never replaced the M101A1, although it shares the same roles in the war. Today, the M101A1 has been retired by the US army, although it continued to serve in many other countries. At the end of the Second World War, 8,536 105 mm backstage was built and post -war production continued in Rock Island Arsenal until 1953, and 10.202 was built until this time.
