It is a multi -purpose automatic ball developed by the Swedish weapon manufacturer EU Bobirs. (Today, the UAE Systems Bocabors) in the second half of the 1940s, as a modern alternative to the Bocabors 40 mm L/60 top design in the period of extremely successful World War II. It was initially designed as a special anti -aircraft weapon and Bocfirs was sold as 40 mm automatic AA Gun L/70. However, since its design, it has been redeveloped as a special multi -purpose weapon that can fire both Sabot bullets and programmable ammunition. Bobfirs 40 mm L/70 has never had the same popularity and historical status as its original L/60 design, but it has been adopted by about 40 different countries and even accepted as NATOs. It is standard in November 1953. It has been produced and sold (by the UAE Systems EU since March 2005) and various variants for both field and sea applications. BOFORS 40 mm L/70 is based on the same basic movement as the original Bobfirs 40 mm Automatic Gun L/60, such as most Bocefs automatic ball, and is a self -fired, fired, self -firing ball, which has an automatic filling that works with recoil. The same receiver and therefore looks visually similar. Nevertheless, Bobfirs 40 mm L/70 is a separate design with a number of significant changes compared to the previous model. The most superficial changes are the longer L/70 barrel, double cooling holes on the jacket and the weapon comes with a chamber for a stronger 40 × 365mmr cartridge (in response to 40 × 311mm for Bobfirs 40 mm L/60). [4] However, most importantly, it is a new launching system that throws empty cartridge hives out of the opposite of feeding the hives in the 40 mm L/60 directly from behind the weapon. This system change increased the mechanical firing rate almost doubled compared to the previous system. Although Bobfirs 40 mm L/70 is a separate development from the old Bobfirs 40 mm L/60 design, the similarities and success between the two cannons and success are widely "BOFFURS" or "Bobfirs 40 mm Top", occasionally causing weapons to be mixed as single and the same weapon.
