Hobbytime Review

The M50 / M51 Super Sherman (also known as Isherman or M1) was an Israeli tank from the post -war period. The first vehicles of this kind were ready to serve in 1956. The drive was initially provided with a single Continental R-975 engine with power up to 450 HP, and then with a Cummins V-8 engine with 460 HP power. . The guns of the vehicle - in the version of the vehicle - a single 105 mm food CN L44 ball, two 7.62 or 12.7 mm machine gun and 52 or 60 mm mortar.

Super Sherman tanks were designed according to the needs of the Israeli Armed Forces in response to the emergence of T-54 and T-55 tanks in the arsenal of the Arab states. The new tanks were the most comprehensive upgrades of the M4a4 Sherman vehicles of Israel. In the first phase of modernization (1956-1964), these tanks were given a new suspension (instead of the VVSS - HVSS type), new power units and most importantly a 105 mm ball. The M50 Super Sherman cars were created in this way. However, in the 1960s, a version of M51 Super Sherman appeared very much - it is very similar to the previous one, but with the French 105 mm F1 models, at the end of the barrel, an unusual barrel brake and a new Sko (Fire) and control system). Super Sherman cars were baptized in 1964 and participated in the Six Day War (1967) and the Yom-Kippur War (1973). In the late 1980s, around 150 vehicles were sold to Chile. Recently, Super Sherman was active in the Israeli army until the end of the 1990s!
