The Boeing 737 is a short-range, low-wing, twin-engine jet aircraft manufactured in the United States. The propulsion system is provided by two Pratt & Whitney JT8D or CFM International CFM56 engines. The prototype flight took place in 1967, and mass production started in 1968 and is still ongoing. The Boeing 737 is the most frequently ordered passenger aircraft in history, with 9,486 of these aircraft produced by mid-2017! This type of aircraft was created as a response by the Boeing company to the demand of American airlines for a new passenger aircraft characterized by low operating costs.
