Hobbytime Review

F-14 Tomcat (Male Cat) is a supersonic, double-engine and variable geometric poultry hunting prevention and air superiority plane produced by Northrop Grumman.
The main task is to protect the American navy from enemy supersonic aircraft and cruise missiles. For this purpose, a very powerful shooting control radar (AN/AWG-9) and long-range missiles (AIM-54 Phoenix) were integrated into F-14. Thanks to the AN/AWG-9 radar, the aircraft can scan an area of 100 miles, monitor 24 aircraft in this distance at the same time and attack 6 simultaneously with the AIM-54 Phoenix missile. Thanks to the monitoring power of the radar, Tomcats can also be used as mini awacs. High optical enlargement tv cameras recognize their goals at distances more than 30 miles and visually follow and allow them to define targets. In addition to a pilot, the flight crew consists of a weapon system and radar officer. The aircraft has variable geometry wings. These wings, which can vary between 20 and 68 degrees in accordance with the request of the pilot during the flight, increase the lifting force of the air during the departure, increase the lifting force of the air, reduce the friction and reduce the speed by minimizing the wing area on flights requiring speed. This gives the plane an advantage that cannot be provided on fixed -wing planes.
F-14 Tomcat can expand the wing surface by moving its wings and remain in the air for longer with the current fuel by reducing the engine impulse. The backward -sliding wings also provide a great advantage in landing and take -off on aircraft carriers. Most of the engines consist of an exhaust part for the artyakır. While the engine produces 180 kn, but fuel consumption increases by 4 times. Therefore, the engines are worn out quickly and need maintenance. The width of the exhaust part increases the need for more heat -resistant material. Maintenance and maintenance is a very expensive plane.
F-14 Tomcat was born as a result of the need to protect the American navy's aircraft carrier from Soviet supersonic aircraft and cruise missiles. In the face of aircraft and supersonic missiles that could rise to the sound floor produced by the Soviets, American aircraft producers worked on an aircraft design that would allow Soviet aircraft to destroy the navy. On January 15, 1960, it was announced that Northrop Grumman won this competition with its VFX project. The prototype made its first flight on 21 December 1970. This first aircraft was lost in a flight accident. Later, the project resumed on May 24, 1971 with the second prototype.
As of October 1972, F-14A planes began to be delivered to the American Navy. The first operational flight took place in September 1974. And however, the F-14s were officially put into service. By January 01, 1977, a total of 259 F-14 was produced and more than 92,000 hours of flights were made. Tomcats replaced F-4 Phantom II aircraft in the US navy. The F-14A model used the Pratt & Whitney TF30-PW-414A engine. With the amendment made on F-14A in 1987, the general Electric F110-GE-400 turbofan engine, which was stronger than the PW-414 engine, was installed, so the F-14A+ Plus appeared. The aircraft produced with the transfer of this model to mass production were called F-14B. The B model contained much more technological avionics than the A model. Equipped with An/APG-71 radar, F-14D Super Tomcat made its first flight on February 9, 1980. In this variant, radar and cockpit technologies of the aircraft were upgraded, double IRST/TV pods were added and their capabilities were increased from air to air.
In addition to superior combat capabilities, F-14 Tomcat has also become a powerful medium range attack aircraft thanks to the A/B version improvement programs. The planes were subjected to serious modernization in the second half of the 1990s. Landirn pods were attached to the air from air to land at night. While the original F-14 has a life of 6,000 flights, the flight life was increased to 7,200 hours with modernization. With Ins/GPS, JDAM laser -guided bombing and electronic counter -precautionary systems were integrated.
