Hobbytime Review

Lockheed Ventura was an American bombardment, patrol and night warrior during the Second World War. The aircraft had a metal structure in the spine wing configuration where the landing team was withdrawn during the flight. 2 Pratt and Whitney R-1850 engine, each with 2000 HP. The prototype flight took place in 1940 and mass production continued in 1941-1944. The armament was usually composed of 7.62 mm or 7.7 mm or 8 Lewis machine guns with a caliber of 12.7 mm and bombs up to 1134 kg.

Lockheed Ventura was created in connection with the significant demand of the British Air Force to new warplanes, especially to the bombs that emerged at the beginning of the Second World War. Responding to the demands of the British side of a new medium bombardment plane and patrol aircraft, Lockheed suggested the redesign of the Lockheed Lodestar passenger aircraft. The British side accepted this solution, but attached great importance to delivery and production rate. The first aircraft entered the shelf line under the name of Ventura MK in the beginning of 1942. I. However, there were some disadvantages - most importantly: less advanced deck weapons and low maneuverability - which reduced their war value. Following the removal of them, Lockheed Ventura's solid structure, strong built -in weapons and good performance turned out to be a very successful plane. It was also used by the USAAF, by the Air Force, including Australia, New Zealand and Canada.
