Hobbytime Review

Curtiss P-40 Warhawk is a single-motor, metal hunter-relief plane with a classic comet, low-wing configuration. The prototype flight was held in 1938 and mass production was realized in 1938-1944. Curtiss P-40 Warhawk, the last of the Hawk aircraft family, was the most widely produced American fighter aircraft except for the Republic P-47 and North America P-51 Mustang. At the end of production in December 1944, the number of machines exceeded 15,000. The development of the design began in 1937 with the adaptation of the version 75's prototype body to the installation of the 1167HP Allison V-1710-11 sequential engine. The plane was the first American production that could fly at speeds above 483 km / h. The version of the RAF was called Tomahawk MK IIA. The aircraft had self -leaking fuel warehouses and two 7.7 mm machine guns with Canadian mounted. Tomahawk Mkııb was equipped with American radio hardware and was armed with six 7.7 mm machine guns. Some American P-40s were modernized in 1941 for reconnaissance tasks. They named RP-40. In the meantime, the Curtiss facility was continuing over Hawk 81-A. The changes include the installation of the Allison V-1710-39 engine with a capacity of 1167km capacity, which provides a fixed power of up to 3563 meters, and the adaptation for installation of four 12.7 mm machine guns and the installation of the body node. It can carry a bomb weighing 227 kg or throw the additional fuel tank back. In September 1940, the US army ordered them for these machines and named them P-40D. Over the next three years, Curtiss has created a large number of new versions of the aircraft, making all kinds of efforts to expand the application possibilities of P-40. Despite these efforts, Warhawk's performance was lower than contemporary allied and axis fighters. Technical Data (P -40E Version): Length: 9,66 m, wing opening: 11.38 m, height: 3.76 m, maximum speed: 580 km/h, climbing speed: 11 m/s, maximum range: 1100 km, practical ceiling: 8800 m, armament: Fixed - 6 m2 machine gun, calibra, 12,7 mm.
